As the mother of a soldier who has been in Afghanistan, I know how much it means to get a handwritten letter from a deployed soldier. As I've mentioned before, it's indescribable to get a letter from someone you miss SO much that it hurts. I've lost count of how many times we've read the letters that came from Mikkel, and it meant something special that we knew he had it in his hands. (In fact it was still filled with dust and sand ;-))
I am therefore truly honored to be allowed to participate in a Bloghop arranged by our own Charlie from OSH and Sandy from the Operation Write Home in America. Enjoy the Bloghop and I hope you'll see a lot of wonderful inspiration.
In my contribution to this Bloghop, I have chosen to put the little mermaid, as she, for me, is very Danish and known worldwide. Enjoy ...

SvarSletWhat a pretty card - and I learned something about Denmark, too! I didn't know that mermaids were Danish. :-)
SvarSletLove your card. The colors are so soothing and the image really adds to the message that the person sending the card is missing Home. Thank you for sharing and supporting your troops.
SvarSletI love cards that are simple to do in mass quantity but still look lovely. The squares would be so easy to cut/punch, and offers great opportunity to mix and match papers. Very nice!
SvarSletBeautiful card! I love your sketch, too. Love the Danish heroes!!
SvarSletVery nice card...I can never line up squares like that :D
SvarSletI really like your blog banner.
That's a great sketch and you did a wonderful job conveying the "wishing" and "missing" someone with that mermaid. We like mermaids too! Thanks for sharing!
SvarSletMette, your card is beautiful, and the mermaid always reminds me of Denmark. Many thanks to your son for his service to his country. Thanks to the whole family! (We're a military family too.) Hope you get lots of cards from him!
Cute Sketch - thank you.
SvarSletI love the little string on each card... it's such a simple touch that really makes it special!
Smukt kort!
SvarSletSuch a beautiful card and the sentiments you've shared about knowing the card you are holding was also held by your son really touch the heart. Even in this day of amazing technology it is nice to know that some things we might label 'old-fashined' hold meaning. Thank you for joining in today's hop!
SvarSletFrom one military mom to another, thank you! Thank you for the card inspiration and thank your son for his service.
SvarSletWhat beautiful cards. Who ever gets these are going to love them. Thank you so much for sharing.
SvarSletWhat a beautiful card! Thank you for sharing your story! ♥

SvarSletSuch a great card! Thanks for sharing. I love the Danish mermaid tie in. I also have a military son. My Trevor is in the US Navy and will be home soon after 4 years. He spent 8 months in Afghanistan. I know that sounds funny, the US Navy in Afghanistan, but it's true. He is in the Seabees (Construction Battalion) and they were over there building on the Marine Base in the middle of the country. It made my day when I got a letter from him!
SvarSletIt's so much fun sharing with our Danish sisters!
The Little Mermaid will definitely remind them of home. I still have my Little Mermaid from Copenhagen. It reminds me of the great visit to your beautiful country.
SvarSletSuperflot kort, du har lavet, Mette! God ide med havfruen og lækkert design!

SvarSletHej Mette,Super patriotic card and I love the skitse I am going to have to borrow that!. I find your faithful contributions to the FIF`s inspirational..you deserve a medal.Keep up the good work and happy hopping. MVH Vikki
SvarSletI have loved the story of the little mermaid since I was a small child. Long before the Disney movie. Think you for such a beautiful card that represents a wonderful landmark in your country.
SvarSletLove the patchwork and mermaid. I am enjoying the little glimpses of Danish life...what's the same and what's different. As a military wife and mom, I know very well how cherished a card is from a deployed loved one. Thanks for being part of the hop.
SvarSletI can see you like to make multiples of a card design, just as I like to. Last week there was some discussion on OWH-TV about how many multiples folks are willing to do. Some folks prefer to use a different design every time, but that is just too slow for me! (It takes me a long time to design one card!!) Thanks for sharing.

SvarSletHello from the U.S.! I really like tiled/patchwork cards. I well remember the Little Mermaid when I was in Denmark many years ago. My sister and I sat nearby and just looked that her. It was so peaceful. Thank you for taking part in this international blog hop. It's always fun to see new styles and expand my collection of sketches and inspiration.
